BADSEY SOCIETY: Chairman Terry Sparrow is asking members attending the society's AGM on Friday, February 13, to take along a toothbrush. Not that he is expecting the meeting at the Remembrance Hall to go on all night, but the toothbrushes will be invaluable in discovering Badsey's past. The Society has arranged a talk by South Worcestershire Archaeological Group to follow the AGM, this will include a pot-washing session to clean up the Roman artefacts discovered in Badsey last year. A toothbrush is the ideal tool for the archaeologist to clean the finds.   more...

VILLAGERS' SUPPER: The villagers' supper held last Saturday evening in the village hall was another great success, this time drawing a record number of 78 guests. After supper prepared by a team of volunteers working in their own kitchens and brought in, piping hot, dessert and tea and coffee were served. The speaker, Tim Nunn, now serving as a chief inspector of police in Hastings, gave a talk in which he asked his audience to consider whether what we often see as coincidence is, in fact, the hand of God working in our lives. The theme was developed using illustrations from his daily life as a member of the police force. He also warmly commended the idea behind these periodic villagers' suppers saying that they personify the friendliness which he remembers as an essential part of this delightful village. Tim was thanked by Jayne Nicol who, is still actively involved in the youth project.   more...
