Hunt raises cash for forces' charity

From the Cotswold Journal, first published Tuesday 12th Feb 2008.

MEMBERS of the Heythrop Hunt raised more than £3,000 for injured British servicemen when they met in front of Batsford House near Moreton last Saturday.

Hunts around the country have been collecting for the Help the Heroes charity, which seeks to raise much-needed funds to support British servicemen injured in Iraq and Afghanistan .

Penny Stephens-Clarkson of the Heythrop said: "Batsford is a traditional gathering place for the Heythrop, having been regularly welcomed there since Lord Redesdale was one of the inaugural Masters in 1835.

"This meet was kindly hosted by invitation of the present owners, Lord and Lady Dulverton."

The money was collected from mounted and foot followers of the hunt by a team of ex-sericemen led by Brigadier Charles McBean.
