Group seeks new members

From the Cotswold Journal, first published Friday 15th Feb 2008.

NEW members are wanted for a Shipston-based embroidery group.

Shirley Wynn, chairman of Stour Valley Embroiderers' Guild, is keen to recruit new needlework buffs to the group, which currently has 15 members.

"The trouble is a lot of our members are elderly and that's why they want to meet in the afternoon," said Mrs Wynn, adding that there is a big embroidery group in Stow, which also attracts a lot of potential recruits.

"It's limited because of the fact we meet in the afternoon. We would be happy to have more members and would like to promote it," she added.

The group, which is currently looking at designs for a new banner, is trying to entice newcomers along and will be opening up a talk on Swiss straw work to non-members on Wednesday, March 12. Anyone interested in attending the March meeting or considering joining the group should contact Mrs Wynn on 01608 663721.
